Senior Process Control Engineer

Profile Senior Process Control Engineer

Can you stabilise a complex offshore process before it ever sees first oil? Do you know the difference between logic that works... and logic that survives commissioning?

-

We are looking for a Senior Process Control Engineer to take full ownership of advanced process control and ICSS integration for large offshore energy facilities, while ensuring a safe start-up, stable operations, and optimised performance from design through commissioning.

-

Tasks & responsibilities:

  • Own the process control scope across FEED, detailed design, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and start-up.
  • Translate process requirements into control philosophies, logic narratives, C&E matrices, alarm strategies, and loop turning strategies.
  • Define setpoints, overrides, permissive, shutdown sequences, and advanced control strategies.
  • Interface closely with ICSS, ESD, F&G, electrical, turbomachinery, and vendor package controls.
  • Lead control system validation during FAT/SAT and troubleshoot commissioning/start-up issues on site.
  • Drive alarm rationalisation and performance optimisation to improve plant stability and safety.
  • Manage technical queries, vendor reviews, and integration risks across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to functional safety alignment (SIL/IEC 61511) and ensure robust shutdown logic.
  • Optimise control performance post start-up through tuning and performance analysis.
  • Mentor engineers and elevate control engineering standards across projects.

Requirements Senior Process Control Engineer

  • Degree in Automation, Control, Process, Chemical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience delivering process control scopes on complex oil & gas or offshore projects.
  • Strong hands-on DCS/PLC experience (Yokogawa, ABB, Honeywell, Emerson, Siemens, or similar).
  • Proven experience in commissioning, start-up support, and troubleshooting live facilities.
  • Deep understanding of control theory, interlocks, sequences, and alarm management.
  • Familiarity with SIL lifecycle and IEC 61511 functional safety principles.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces and vendor packages.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced EPC environments and site-based phases.
