Senior Weight Control Engineer
Profile Senior Weight Control Engineer
Do you know how weight control decisions made during FEED can determine the success of offshore installation? Can you track weight growth across thousands of line items and foresee stability risks early?
-
We are looking for a Senior Weight Control Engineer to manage and optimise weight and centre-of-gravity throughout all project phases, ensuring structural integrity, marine stability, and regulatory compliance for complex offshore facilities.
-
Tasks & responsibilities:
- Lead the weight control discipline across concept, FEED, detailed design, construction, and installation phases.
- Develop and maintain the project weight control plan, procedures, and reporting systems.
- Monitor and control weight growth, centre of gravity (CoG), and weight distribution across systems and modules.
- Interface with Naval, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, and Marine disciplines to ensure alignment on weight data.
- Review 3D model outputs and engineering deliverables to validate weight estimates and updates.
- Perform weight trend analysis, forecasting, and impact assessments on stability and installation.
- Ensure compliance with classification society rules and project weight targets.
- Support load-out, transportation, installation, and marine operations with weight-related calculations.
- Manage changes and assess impact on overall facility weight and stability margins.
- Mentor junior engineers and, when required, act as Discipline Lead for the weight control scope.
Requirements Senior Weight Control Engineer
- Engineering degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5-10 years of experience in weight control engineering within offshore oil & gas or large marine EPC projects.
- Proven experience with FPSO, floating production units, or offshore topsides projects.
- Strong understanding of weight estimation methodologies, CoG management, and weight tracking systems.
- Experience with 3D model-based weight reporting and interface coordination.
- Knowledge of classification society requirements (e.g., DNV, ABS, BV).
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary interfaces.
- Experience supporting installation and marine operations is a plus.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
